In 2023, JD Tomlinson paid his girlfriend a $100,000 settlement using taxpayer funds, following two earlier settlements of $25,000 each in 2021 to former employees. Additionally, a case highlighted by David O'Brien in The Elyria-Telegram on January 28, 2022, suggested that Tomlinson's actions in reducing a rape case may have involved bribery.

Demand Accountability: Unethical Conduct in Lorain County

JD Tomlinson has been involved in multiple unethical actions, including misuse of taxpayer funds and questionable behavior in handling legal cases, raising serious concerns about his integrity and conduct.

THE CASE
  1. JD Tomlinson prosecuted a case involving the kidnapping of a 14-year-old girl, who was held and gang raped for six hours.
  2. One of the rapists had recently been released from prison after serving two years for a previous rape.
  3. JD Tomlinson, along with James Burge and Nicholas Celebrezze (now Judge Celebrezze in Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court), imposed a gag order on their own prosecutor and offered a plea deal, reducing RAPE, RAPE, SEXUAL ASSAULT, AND SEXUAL ASSAULT charges to misdemeanor assault, while dropping other sex charges.
  4. This plea offer was deemed inappropriate and suspected to be influenced by potential bribery.
  5. When Nicholas Celebrezze was sent to court to defend their actions and asked under oath about the gag order, he responded, "I cannot remember."
  6. Due to the controversial plea offer, JD Tomlinson and the Lorain County Prosecutor’s office were removed from the case, and an outside prosecutor was appointed, as reported by The Chronicle-Telegram.
